Abstract :
The applications of Global Position System (GPS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies in highway management contribute to detection and maintain of highway, and can revolutionize the management model. The key to applications is the positioning transformation between highway centerline mileage and GPS location. This paper establishes the transformation model that can intelligently snap the GPS location to three highway centerline nodes and estimate centerline mileage. The proposed framework outlines the required data structure and interpolation algorithm for both estimating centerline mileages and GPS location in highway.
