Abstract :
The essay was conducted to analyze contents and structures of vocational school websites and to discuss what an ideal vocational school website should contain, in the positions of administrative staff or system maintainers. The essay adopted content analysis, questionnaire survey, and telephone interviews as research methods. The research objects included all 156 vocational high schools in Taiwan. It started from sorting out common categories in ten vocational school websites and then 20 categories were confirmed. Then a questionnaire was devised and sent via email to deans or website maintainers in all vocational schools in Taiwan, in order to make sure that all categories were necessary. The conclusion and suggestions of the essay included: (1) The most required contents encompassed school introduction, administrative offices, departments, bulletin boards, college admission, admission information, and skill test information. (2) The website should provide faculty phone numbers and email accounts, and students´ transcripts. (3) The website should provide information on skill tests and job-seeking service. (4) The website should be updated regularly and add its latest updating date. (5) The curriculum should equally emphasize college admission and skill training. There should be web pages for both vocational departments and common courses.
