Abstract
This paper deals with an extension of Park´s transformation to model permanent magnet (PM) non- sinusoidal machines by means of the so-called pseudo-dq axes reference frame. Speed and torque vector control can then be implemented resulting in a motor drive performance close to that of sinusoidal PM machines drives. Similarly, the proposed control algorithm is derived by decomposing the machine current into two components, one being linked to the torque and the other one to its flux. The paper discusses the benefits resulting from the use of vector control in a brushless dc motor drive. Both simulation and experimental results are used to validate the proposed motor drive model and the related control strategy.
