The Construction of Digital Archives of Wanchun Gong in Taichung City

The Taichung Wanchun Gong Mazu Temple is called “Lanxing Mazu” or “Taichung Mazu,” the temple being one of the earliest Mazu temples in the Taichung area. This research is a direct result of a collaborated project entitled “The Compilation of Taichung Wanchun Gong´s Gazetteer and Its Website Construction” between the temple´s Management Committee and the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology (CTUST) in 2009. This work is motivated by the need for an ancient Mazu temple with local color, to cope with the advent of the information era by using academic/cultural resources for digitizing archiving and networking so that it can offer better religious/cultural services in today´s increasingly digital times.
