Abstract :
In this paper, we introduce the Proactive Stop and Start (PSS) technology for high gas mileage of a used car. The proposed PSS is an Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) convergence technology for fuel saving and emission reduction. In order to save fuel, PSS system stops and restarts the engine of a vehicle for red and green light signals, respectively. For the measurement accuracy of fuel saving, we consider the fuel consumption of restarting. In experiments with driving a car in a town, the PSS system shows the 13 ~ 21% effectiveness of the gasoline mileage.
