Abstract :
A comparison between a matrix converter and a two stage matrix converter, for application in an electro mechanical actuator (EMA) for aircraft, is presented in this paper. The comparison has been performed accounting for different parameters: input current quality, losses of the electronic devices, size and weight of the converter including the input filter. An accurate computer model of both converters has been implemented taking into account the modulation strategies.
