  • Abstract
There are more and more waste rocks to produce by mines. It is a serious problem to dispose them, or to reduce them. The paper applied the theory and method of the optimization of the grade index to BaiYunEBo western iron mine, a big surface iron mine in China. Some mathematical models, such as the proved extractable reserve and concentration ratio, was set up. The optimization result shows that the mine can both increase its benefit and use the mineral resource effectively, so the waste rocks can be reduced.
