Abstract :
Experimental results on obtaining of electron beams with a ~200 keV electron energy, a ~100 A and higher current in a diode with an explosive emission cathode in a ~10-2-10-1 Torr residual gas pressure range are presented. The current in the diode was shown to be transported by an electron beam. A high-voltage discharge stage duration in the diode reached 500-800 ns and 80 ns at a 10-2 Torr and 10-1 Torr pressure, respectively. Electron beam duration behind a 50 μm-thick titanium foil was 200 and 40 ns, respectively, and was limited by the foil transmission capacity
