Abstract :
A domain and application specific expert system shell for transmission network alarm processing is described in this paper. This shell includes an object-oriented knowledge based management system (OOKBMS), a general purpose rule based inference engine and four specific problem solving modules. The OOKBMS supports a focusing-attention mechanism that can increase the storage and retrieving speed to make the expert system suitable to work in real-time environment. It also contains a transmission network knowledge representation model
