Greater integration of community and hospital care can improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of healthcare delivery. Appropriate information technology can contribute to this by facilitating improved communication. The Dilemma project is part of the European Community´s Advanced Informatics in Medicine programme and it addresses the need to improve the sharing of information and expertise between healthcare professionals in order to enhance the quality of care. As part of this work the Royal Brompton Hospital and Hewlett-Packard´s Medical Products Group R&D team are applying decision support and telematics techniques to a shared-care scenario in cardiology
