Abstract :
A metamaterial transition layer is proposed for a slot-line dielectric leaky-wave antenna that will allow the excited mode trapped within the dielectric to radiate. The transition layer is designed using transformation electromagnetics to behave like a dielectric prism in order to prevent total internal reflection within the dielectric. Two-dimensional full-wave simulations compare the fields from a uniform dielectric layer to the fields from an inhomogeneous anisotropic metamaterial layer.
