Abstract
Over the last few years there has been considerable interest in the detection of arterial disease, as well as in establishing a correlation between plaque appearance and local haemodynamic factors. Because blood flow is a 3D phenomenon, what is required is a method of data acquisition and visualisation that earn produce a 3D vectorial flow field. Here the authors describe a new computer interface system for the presentation of 3D flow data, which has been specially designed for flow studies in magnetic resonance imaging. Various features of the interface relating to the visualisation of the data are presented, including the possibility of incorporating 3D flow information (derived from the solution of the Navier-Stokes equations) into the MR flow field data
