Abstract :
Laptop PCs equipped with a cellular phone is a new generation of wireless communication device for multimedia data transmission. In this work, we investigate the transmission of encoded multimedia data via the wireless link of the above system. The bandwidth of the wireless channel is much narrower and the noise level is higher in comparison with the wired network. We implement an error control scheme for multimedia data transmission, including audio, video, digital maps and animated graphics. The animated graphics is coded with a new 2-D mesh coding algorithm that is effective in coding efficiency and error resiliency. An implementation of such a wireless communication system is demonstrated
