Abstract
Based on a nonadiabatic dynamical method we have studied the dynamical process of scattering between a pair of oppositely charged solitons in trans-polyacetylene chain in the presence of an external electric field. It is found that the oppositely charged solitons scatter into an exciton when they move close enough to each other. However, the exciton is not stable and is decomposed into a pair of solitons. The solitons annihilate each other after several times of collision and the polymer chain returns to the dimerized state.
