Abstract :
A novel microstrip array antenna is presented. The proposed antenna is based on a standing-wave feed network, in which quarter-wave transformers are not required. A standing wave is formed in the microstrip lines that feed electromagnetic power to radiating elements. Such unique feeding scheme is advantageous compared to a corporate feed because the standing-wave feed can reduce spurious radiation from microstrip discontinuities of quarter-wave transformers. Also the standing-wave feed network makes a dual antenna realizable in a single-layer structure.
