Abstract :
A general vision of battery capacity prediction as a function of multiple noninvasive measurements is presented. The importance of quantifying the uncertainty of such predictions is underscored. A VRLA cell test group is chosen to develop and examine a detailed functional relationship of capacity with conductance; particular emphasis is placed on the range of 75-105% battery capacity. It is hoped that consolidation of the vast studies conducted throughout the industry will one day lead to a robust battery state of health prediction model with reasonable confidence limits.
