Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview, from the user\´s perspective, of how the predominant battery technology used by the telecommunications industry has not provided the "reliable energy" necessary for today\´s telecom network. To provide information on alternative technologies that will greatly improve the "reliable energy" we all strive for. Finally, to suggest a technology shift from the predominant technology to the alternatives. A shift to safer, higher density, better performance, longer life, lower life cycle cost and truly "reliable energy".
