Abstract
The thermal network method (TNM) is widely used for temperature rise computations due to its short computation time. This paper describes a method for automatically generating a thermal network (TN) for a circuit breaker compartment of a medium voltage gas insulated switchgear (MV GIS). The convective and conduction heat transfer are calculated with numerical methods. The resulting TN is intended to mimic complex 3d-models and is verified with a finite element (FE) model and the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results.
