Abstract
Power control is one of the key approaches to increase the capacity and quality of service (QoS) in cellular mobile communication systems. A simple and efficient algorithm for downlink power control is the distributed power control (DPC) technique proposed by Foschini and Miljanic. In their approach, the transmitted powers assigned to each user are adjusted independently according to the corresponding user signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) reports. In the presence of errors in such reports, the QoS constraints can be violated for some users. In this paper, we propose an improved DPC algorithm which reduces this effect.
