Abstract
Robust digital video signals directly modulate an LED, making transmission over local access length systems possible. By using a waveguide grating router (WGR) at the remote node, numerous architectural and service delivery variations of this introductory scheme are possible, and will be shown. In addition, a review of the behavior of LED´s as light sources for these purposes, including thermal effects, “spectral hinging”, spectral filtering and dispersion effects, amplification, etc., will also be presented
