Abstract :
The present work reports a theoretical study of the convolution of contra-propagating magnetostatic surface waves (MSSWs) in a YIG film. Computations of the induced convolution voltage in a pickup loop and the internal efficiency of the convolution process are presented as functions of frequency as well as the thickness of the YIG film. In agreement with expectation, the convolution voltage goes down with increase in frequency or thickness of the YIG film, i.e., with increased decoupling of the two contra-propagating MSSWs. The bandwidth for convolver operation is predicted to be better for MSSW than for magnetostatic forward volume waves (MSFVWs) or magnetostatic backward volume waves (MSBVWs)
