Abstract
OFDM systems are gaining recognition for their useful properties in difficult channels. Additionally, continuing advances in both DSP and VLSI have made them quite practical to implement. For asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) applications, the technique is used to provide high-speed data over twisted pair using a 1 MHz bandwidth. Now, however, OFDM is being developed for RF channels, where carrier jitter and synchronization become more significant impairments. This contribution analyzes the BER of QAM systems using the OFDM signaling format, recognizing the important relationship between the rate of the jitter process and the OFDM subchannel band rate
