Abstract :
This paper presents a novel reconfigurable antenna to be embedded in a handheld device operating in the VHF band from 136 to 174MHz. This device can be applied for an emergency wireless communication system during natural disasters. A reconfigurable structure is included to switch the embedded antenna having a narrow bandwidth to cover the required VHF band with an acceptable radiation efficiency.
