Abstract :
The aim of this article is to show that even for high velocities it is possible with an electrohydrodynamic system to modify the distributions of the size and the velocity of the droplets of a diesel oil jet. In our system we place a needle inside the injector and bring it to a high potential. We did tests for -18 kV and for velocities varying from 40 to 100 m/s. They consisted in measuring the velocity and the size of the droplets and in comparing the results obtained with the electric field to those obtained without. The results show that the electric field really has an influence on the characteristics of the jets but in an unexpected way. At the end of the article we analyse the results and try to understand them.
