Abstract :
Deployment of next-generation wireless networks requires systems capable of operating in high-mobility environments. High performances are necessary for the antenna system and in particular the capability to reconfigure the radiated beam and adaptively change the shape of the radiation pattern in order to optimize the radiation coverage while minimizing the interferences. In this paper, a novel phase-only adaptive ing method is proposed, which is based on the description of the phase distribution of the array excitation by means of a weighted sum of proper basis functions. By optimizing the weights of this sum, rather than the phase of each element, the problem becomes almost independent of the size of the array, and its convergence speed makes it suitable for realtime applications. The present work shows that with this method both interference ing and signal tracking can be efficiently achieved.
