Abstract :
In the context of continued operation, BNF plc. carry out inspections of operational plant as a means of supporting the safety case. Economic viability is an essential part of the case for continued operation and has resulted in the development of a number of cost-effective techniques for nuclear power plant inspection. This paper briefly outlines two such techniques: ultrasonic inspection of the Calder Hall and Chapelcross reactor pressure vessels; and visual inspection of core support brackets
