Abstract :
This paper is devoted to the precise performance analysis of optimum diversity combining and equalization with quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) over frequency-selective fading channels in the presence of co-channel interference (CCI). In developing the optimum receiver, a precise CCI model with taking into account the effects of symbol and carrier timing offsets between the desired signal and CCI is used. With these two random-valued offsets CCI can be regarded as a wide-sense stationary process (WSS). Diversity reception along with a post-combiner equalizer, either using a linear or a decision-feedback scheme, is employed to eliminate intersymbol interference (ISI) and CCI, simultaneously. Gaussian quadrature rules (GQR) based on the moment method is used to calculate the error probability efficiently in each individual run of the Monte Carlo simulation. The results show the superior performance of the decision-feedback equalizer in suppressing CCI
