Abstract :
The Hough transform is used to find the spacing, orientation and phase of fringes in interferometric images. The method was devised for use in a civil engineering application, although it can be applied more generally. Young´s fringes are produced by illuminating a specklegram with an unexpanded laser beam and the spacing of these fringes relates to the effects of stress on a specimen. A variant of the Hough transform measures these fringe spacings, and models the waveform using a variable “corrugated iron” template. In addition, we attempt to distinguish between solutions when multiple fringes are present
