Abstract :
Miniaturization of a rectangular monopole antenna fed sideward from a ground plate by modifying its cross-sectional shape was investigated. It was found that the monopole under the ground plate can be shortened by making the cross-section T-shaped without significantly degrading the wideband impedance matching property. A design to achieve fractional bandwidth of about 107% with miniaturizing of the antenna about 28% is presented.
