Abstract :
A feasibility study which demonstrates the applicability of the GAM-2 pyramid computer to the real-time simulation of dynamic systems is described. The architecture of the computer and the manner in which data are exchanged between processing elements are discussed. The author describes how the differential equations and the various computational units of the integration algorithm are partitioned among the processing elements at the different levels in the pyramid. Methods of exchanging data between the processing elements during and after a given integration cycle are explained, and the time required for computations and data exchange is also discussed. The required computation time of an integration cycle is evaluated, and conclusions are drawn concerning the efficiency of using the GAM-2 pyramid structures for digital simulation of dynamic systems
