Abstract :
A novel pulse transmitting scheme is proposed based on the integration of RF modulators into a resonant antenna. Driven by the modulating signals, the modulators are able to modulate on the antenna´s radiation slots directly. Therefore, narrow pulse sequences can be generated and radiated out simultaneously. Furthermore, the resonant behavior of the antenna, which limits the antenna´s bandwidth, can be significantly alleviated. The experimental results show that a patch antenna with a resonant frequency of 2.4 GHz and a 30 MHz bandwidth can transmit a digital modulated signal with beyond 200 MHz bandwidth.
