Abstract
Accurate prediction of received signal strength is pivotal to reliable wireless communications. Unfortunately, wireless signals are often subject to random attenuation due to the environment surrounding the receivers. Shadowing loss, one of the main degradation factors, is well known to exhibit correlation when two wireless links are in proximity. In this pa-per, we study the features of two existing correlation models for shadowing loss, namely Gudmundson´s model and Szyszkowicz´s model. We further explore the techniques to match the model parameters in order to approximate the models. The results can facilitate future research on analysis and simulation of correlated shadowing loss.
