Abstract :
This paper presents a study on the performance of ultrasound focusing in attenuative media with phased arrays. An analytical model and a 2D finite element (FE) model developed on the ANSYS platform are presented. Simulation results demonstrate that in an attenuative medium, an optimum frequency range exists for the most efficient energy transfer from the source to the focal point. The determination of the optimum frequency range provides guidance for subsequent transducer design.
