Abstract :
An unequal error protection (UEP) transmission scheme is proposed for multimedia multicasting systems employing a priority encoding transmission (PET)-based packetization structure combined with rateless codes. Outage probability is analyzed for the layered multicast framework. A novel transmission scheme is proposed which is capable of minimizing the transmission cost while simultaneously guaranteeing outage probability constraints. Simulation results show that our proposed transmission scheme performs well in a multicasting system with transmission deadlines and asynchronous access start times.
