Abstract :
Connectivity is one of the important fundamental issues when designing mobile ad hoc networks. Normally, the physical connectivity of networks is broadly investigated, but the communication connectivity of networks has not been paid much attention. In this paper, connectivity enhancement mechanism based adaptive modulation for mobile ad hoc networks is deeply investigated on the basis of three typical modulation modes, namely QPSK, 16-QAM and 64-QAM, which are recommended by IEEE 802.16. Through theory and numerical analysis, and compared with singleness modulation mode, adaptive modulation can satisfy QoS requirement, improve network connectivity and increase throughput consequently
