Abstract :
Jiaozhou Bay is located on the southern coast of the Shandong Peninsula in East China. It separates Huangdao District from Qingdao City and borders on Jiaozhou City and Jiaonan City. It was polluted by nearby industries. Tangdao Bay, neighbored to Jiaozhou Bay along the Phoenix Peninsula, is dedicated to Tourism development. This study investigated the current pollution levels of the seawater of Tangdao Bay and the possibility of the correlation with Jiaozhou Bay. Seawater samples were taken from Tangdao Bay and Phoenix Peninsula coastal waters. Chemical oxygen demand (COD), nitrogen, phosphorus, etc. were analyzed to evaluate the status of marine pollution. Dissolved organic chemicals in the seawater were enriched by solid phase extraction and then introduced to HPLC analysis. Experimental results illustrate that the seawater quality of the Tangdao Bay is good except for phosphorus pollution. The results also suggest that there is no relationship of marine pollution between Tangdao Bay and Jiaozhou Bay.
