Abstract
Cable switching events are investigated as a means to perform diagnostic measurements on underground polymeric cable. Switching events contain frequency components, which can be utilized to generate impedance measurements as a function of frequency. This paper provides the theoretical foundation indicating that the proposed technique allows us to detect impedance changes in a typical cable model. The next program phase is demonstration tests.
