Abstract
A non-intrusive means of determining the insulation deterioration and the changes in the clamping system of a transformer from the transformer´s tank vibration signal is described. In order to protect the instrument and the experimentalist when the vibration signal is measured on-line, an optical-electric transmitting system was developed. The experimental results demonstrated this system had good linearity and magnitude-frequency characteristic and it was an effective and reliable method to improve the system abilities. Using the optical fiber transmitting system formed the signal-transmitting mode of electricity-light-electricity, thus the electric isolation was realized and the instrument and the experimentalist were protected.
