Abstract :
A novel low profile circularly polarized Fabry-Perot Resonator antenna fed by a linearly polarized microstrip patch is present. The proposed antenna consists of a primary radiator with linear polarization, a partially reflective surface formed by cross slot FSS and a nonstandard AMC acting as reflective ground plane. By properly designing parameter, the linearly polarized EM wave radiated by primary radiator can be transformed into circularly polarized radiation in the aperture of antenna. At same time, the profile of antenna can also be reduced to one quadrant of wavelength. For verification, a prototype antenna operating at 14GHz is designed. Simulation results show that a common frequency bandwidth of 6.4% for S11 ≤ -10dB and gain-drop ≤ 3 dB and axial ratio ≤ 3 dB is obtained.
