Abstract :
To oversimplify, current aircraft digital buses such as ARINC-429 and ARINC 629 move too little data over too many wires in a manner that is too inflexible. In addition, in some cases they are also expensive to implement. The use of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) standards or components to address these problems is attractive, but brings it´s own issues. This paper examines one use of COTS, and some of the issues which have been encountered
