Abstract :
In this paper a conformal cylindrical microstrip antenna (CMA) with an omnidirectional radiation is proposed. The antenna consists of three main components: a probe-fed main patch and two parasitic patches, placed conformally on a cylindrical structure. This cylindrical structure is sized to be about the size of a typical human waist, and was designed in the form of a belt for horizontally-polarized applications. The overall structure was simulated using CST Microwave Studio. Results indicated a satisfactory performance with 1.46 % bandwidth, and an omnidirectional pattern at the desired frequency.
