Abstract
As broadband services are deployed in the local loop, transport platforms providing flexible bandwidth allocation are desirable. The emergence of MPEG video encoding and ATM cell switching and multiplexing provide an ideal mechanism for transporting bandwidth on demand for interactive services. This paper discusses the design issues involved in implementing ATM transport of MPEG signals in fiber in the loop systems. The cost and performance aspects of an example system approach are described
