  • Abstract
NTT hopes to offer VI&P (visual, intelligent and personal) telecommunication services to all customers in the 21st century. Introduction of fiber-in-the-loop (FITL) systems is the key step towards the next generation network systems. Our aim is to develop the FITL systems that can provide the variety of future customers´ demands anticipated. Three key types of fiber-optic (FO) subscriber systems have been identified by analyzing network services. Field trials have started and are targeted to confirm the application technologies. Three basic FO subscriber systems are shown: a narrow band digital transmission system, an FDM video distribution system, and a high speed digital transmission system
