Abstract :
Summary form only given. Liquid crystals in their various ordered and disordered phases have been shown to possess large optical nonlinearities over a wide temporal [CW to picosecond] and spectral [visible to infrared] ranges. Consequently, a whole range of nonlinear optical phenomena has been observed in liquid crystalline systems. In this paper, we report our recent successful fabrication of liquid crystalline cored optical fibers, and the observations of several nonlinear optical phenomena with greatly lowered threshold powers
