Abstract :
Devices based on photonic crystals have recently gained great interest (see Joannopoulos, J., "Photonic Crystals: Modeling the flow of light", Princeton University Press, 1995). This is a fast developing area of science, with a promising future prospect. Such crystals might find use in variety of microwave devices - mixers, filters, etc. Development of such structures by experimental methods is either too expensive or impossible due to technical limitations. An engineer-oriented software package has been created for the development and simulation of PGB (photonic band gap) structures made of biisotropic and complex materials.
