Abstract
To remove heavy metal ions in waste water, the adsorption process of Mercury ion from aqueous solution by Konjac Glucomannan based Resin (KGR) was investigated. The adsorption capacity is found to be dependent on the pH of the solution, the effects of adsorption time, the dosage of different adsorbents, the initial concentration of heavy metal ion and temperature. Moreover, the adsorption capacity increases with the increasing degree of substitution (DS) of carboxymethyl groups. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm gives a satisfactory fit of the equilibrium data. It was determined that Hg(II) uptake increased with increasing pH.
