Abstract :
In this paper a new circuit model for generating partial discharge (PD) signals in HV cables, considering the existence of semiconductor layer, based on the model registered by the authors has been presented and the effects of various parameters of semiconductor layer such as resistivity, permittivity and thickness on PD signal has been investigated. Also, the contributions of semiconductor layer on PD signal propagation, due to the effect of this layer on wave propagation velocity and attenuation are discussed. For this reason, a new investigation on EMTPRV-based semiconductor implementation in cable model has been presented which in addition to modified PD generation circuit completes a model for any investigation on generation and propagation of partial discharges in a cable including semiconductor layer contributions.
