Abstract :
Noise reduction is one of the important tasks of cable insulation assessment based on partial discharge (PD). SVD is an algorithm for de-noising of partial discharge signal based on Eigen-Decomposition approach. But, this method loses its effectiveness by changing the PD pulse shape. In this paper, a procedure named as Improved Singular Value Decomposition (ISVD) have been presented for de-noising of partial discharge signals and have been compared with SVD procedure. Comparing in terms of extracted features after de-noising, the proposed method preserves the features of PD pulses from distortions and errors.
