Abstract :
In this paper we suggest an approach to quality of service based charging in Internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) by the use of Parlay X Web services. The policy and charging control (PCC) functions are analyzed and their support by Parlay X interfaces is evaluated. The open access to application-driven quality of service and payment functions is investigated and mapped onto IMS control protocols. Combining existing Web services, we design a Parlay X application for charging of IMS traffic based on the provided quality of service.
