Abstract :
With the developments of digital multimedia technologies, MPEG-2 to H.264 transcoding will become universal requirements in various applications. Compared with MPEG-2, H.264 uses some new compressing methods. One of these methods is intra prediction. This paper proposed some intra prediction mode decision algorithms for MPEG-2 to H.264 transcoding. In our experiments, the suggested fast mode decision method is compared with H.264 JM10.1, results show that our algorithm can reduce the computation while maintaining similar PSNR performance
